A kitchen table, some coffee and some good girlfriends…isn’t that the way all great ideas get started? That’s our story. AAW founder Sally R. Smallwood was disturbed by a study released by The Institute for Women’s Policy Research called The Status of Women in the States. This study ranked Tennessee near the bottom in key areas:
Her friends agreed something needed to be done - if only there was a way to remove the barriers that most women face when trying to take care of themselves, couldn’t we make a real difference? For almost two years, they met with medical professionals, service providers and women to develop the concept for All About Women. Energized by the possibility, three more coffees were hosted to talk about taking the idea further….and thirty people signed up to lead the initiative! >>more |
