A kitchen table, some coffee and some good girlfriends…isn’t that the way all great ideas get started? That’s our story. AAW founder Sally R. Smallwood was disturbed by a study released by The Institute for Women’s Policy Research called The Status of Women in the States. This study ranked Tennessee near the bottom in key areas:

• Health and well-being
• Political participation
• Employment and earnings
• Social and economic autonomy

Her friends agreed something needed to be done - if only there was a way to remove the barriers that most women face when trying to take care of themselves, couldn’t we make a real difference? For almost two years, they met with medical professionals, service providers and women to develop the concept for All About Women.
